Where is it: Amalfi is a town on Italy’s southwest coast. Located in a dramatic natural setting below steep cliffs the Amalfi Coast, running from from Punta Campanella to Salerno, is one of Italy's most memorable destinations.

Airports:

The nearest airport is Naples International Airport (NAP), approximately 60km from the Amalfi coast.

What is the region famous for?

Mountains plunging into the shimmering sea, winding (slightly vertigo-inducing) coastal roads, stunning hilltop towns like Positano, Amalfi and Ravello and terraced houses climbing the steep hillsides. Oh and Limoncello! Amalfi is the home of this famous liqueur and you can smell the lemon balm wafting in the air from the lemon groves scattered across the landscape.

Why get married here?

  1. Glam and vintage feel. A world-renowned wedding ‘destination’ and place to be seen.

  2. Amazing venues. Towering over the sea below, incredible views, amazing food and exceptional service. The venues here know how to host and then some!

  3. The landscape. Amalfi has a distinctive and unique landscape that can’t be found anywhere else. Providing a pretty unbeatable backdrop for your wedding snaps. Amalfi is perfect for those wanting a sea view with that vintage and authentic Italian feel.

  4. The vibe. It’s like nowhere else in the world. Glam yet authentically Italian. Quiet but with a charming small-town buzz. There is minimal traffic due to their only being one road and this creates an intimate and relaxed style. It’s really like taking a step back in time to a simpler and quieter time.

What types of venue are there?

The venues in Amalfi are mainly hotels that have day packages. You can also find the odd villa with a more personalised approach.

Price - $$$

Budget 2-5k euro per guest for a wedding in this region.

Budget considerations

  • With most venues as day rentals you will having to factor that fee in to your budget and /or pay the catering prices of the locations which are arguably higher than any other region

  • Suppliers charge additional costs to travel to this area due to the complexity and cost of accommodations and travel here

  • Most service providers will charge extra fees for transport and ‘facchinagio’ which is an loading cost - many locations don’t have easy access and a lot of movement and lifting of equipment is required.

Be prepared - scope out the full cost of a wedding at any location you explore before booking with the help of an expert.

“One of the most popular venues in Amalfi is Villa Cimbrone. This venue really holds a special place in our hearts - it's just absolutely magical with so many beautiful spaces for an event.”

“For smaller more intimate weddings then Santa Maria Luxury Villa is a true hidden gem with views for days and a beautiful private beach.”

Towns we love

Positano

A cliff town village well known for its pastel coloured buildings, pebble beaches and steep narrow streets lined with many great places for a Spritz.

Ravello

Set 365 meters above the Tyrrhenian Sea and home to the iconic cliffside gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. Ravello is not accessible by car which makes it really intimate. There’s an amazing church in the centre, narrow characterful streets and stunning views.

Sorrento

A larger town with beach clubs on the pier. It’s known for sweeping sea views, Piazza Tasso (a cafe-lined square) and Chiesa di San Francesco, a 14th-century church with a tranquil cloister.

Negatives or things to consider:

“There’s a lot to know when planning a wedding on the Amalfi Coast. It has its own rules and ways of working which can be quite complex. Having an expert who knows the location inside out, and is ideally based there, is really important especially for finding the right suppliers as well as planning and budgeting correctly.” Catherine Bradfield, The Wedding Boutique Italy
