Ayda + Nico’s Sicilian fairytale wedding
Ayda + Nico’s September wedding was hosted at sensational Sicilian venue Borgo del Carato, uniting 90 friends and family from all corners of the world to celebrate this couples love story. A self-professed perfectionist, Ayda worked directly with a team of talented suppliers and an on-the-day coordinator to curate a ‘magical Italian summer’. “Our wedding win was our suppliers!! We were sooo lucky to have Gaetano from Navarria Catering and Valentina our wedding day coordinator; they helped us so much more than we ever would have hoped!”
The couple’s biggest concerns of rain and guests not being able to make the celebrations were blissfully forgotten as the easy-going wedding started and everyone was enveloped by the warmth of this moment in time.
“What made this day so special and unique to us were the guests - 3 month to 90 years old - traveling from all corners of the world to join and celebrate with us. Our loved ones came from the United States, Germany, Iran, the UK, Serbia, Spain, Sweden and South Africa. Muslims, Christians, Jews and Atheists celebrating and dancing together, demonstrating the power of love and unity that transcends borders and religions. We could not be more thankful to have such great people in our lives.”

“An Italian dream, by far the best wedding I've ever been to. Super well planned, gigantic ambience, outstanding food and a party that blew my mind. As a guest you really noticed how detailed you planned everything. We will never forget this evening.” Wedding guest
“My Milla Nova wedding dress was my favourite styling touch.”
The Dating
“Our love story began nearly six years ago in Cologne where we were introduced through a mutual friend. This friend had convinced us to meet, and little did we know that this meeting would change our lives forever. On our very first date, we sat in Nico's car unable to stop talking to each other until the early hours of the morning. From that moment, we were inseparable.”
The Engagement
“Nico meticulously planned how he would pop the question, but there was one hurdle – the ring. The diamond he had chosen was held up in Swiss customs, delaying the proposal. Since he thought the ring would be delivered any day, he planned the proposal. But every time when he had already told me to reserve a day for something special, the ring got delayed again! We enjoyed countless romantic dates that summer!
Finally, he decided to propose after the most romantic dinner in a beautiful small Italian restaurant. It was magical. But the most beautiful part was when he told me that whole story and I realized how much effort and thought he had put in.”
“I'm a perfectionist so I planned every little detail myself and decided not to have a wedding planner (only a wedding day coordinator).”
The Stand out Moment
“The moment I walked down the aisle to "Moonriver" and saw Nico and all the guests who came from all corners of the world to celebrate with us.”
The Biggest Challenge
“Definitely planning a wedding in Italy without a wedding planner and without knowing Italian and with a limited budget, that was way less than planners had told us we would have to calculate for the number guests we had.”
The Stand Out Supplier
“Gaetano from Navarria Catering, he helped us so much during the whole planning process and answered every single question I had (and I had thousands) within minutes even on Sundays. I don't know how he does it. He really became a friend during the process. The food and service on the day was just extraordinary; it exceeded every expectation. We had an antipasto buffet with show cooking, followed by two courses of fresh pasta and a third one of filet. Finally a three tier wedding cake made of ricotta cream, tiramisu, ice cream and Sicilian specialities like freshly filled cannoli. The guests are still raving about it.”
