Guests will thank you for these things

For you this will be one of the best days of your life, and for your guests, this will be a trip of a lifetime. Many might not have travelled to Italy and certainly the majority wouldn’t have experienced an Italian wedding. This is the time to wow guests, but to also ensure all the little boxes have been ticked so your guests are comfortable and stress-free!

No favours

Favours get forgotten, left on the table likely to be cleared away by your catering team. No guest really wants a warm mini bottle of limoncello with your initials on when they can have an ice cold shot from the bar. Don’t waste your money! Write your guests a thoughtful welcome note, and put the money into something they can enjoy on the day! The memories they’ll take home will always outweigh any token.

Travel logistics

Consider how your guests are travelling to Italy and which transport you need to put on for them. Airport shuttles? Taxi recommendations? Car hire? Is there parking for everyone at the venue? Have a section on your wedding website dedicated to ‘Travel.’

Unambiguous communication

More is always better when it comes to communication with guests. That goes from the initial save the date to the info on the day of your wedding. Be clear on…..

  • Are you organising it for them or making suggestions i.e. ‘you have a seat on the shuttle bus collecting from the venue to the church at 3.30pm’. Or, ‘here is a list of our recommended places to eat on Thursday eve…..’

  • A simple breakdown of every event, timing, travel and the vibe included on your wedding website with a printed version in their room

  • Assume guests forget things / don’t read things properly, so REMIND THEM!

Handling the heat

  • Start your ceremony late (4pm in high summer is the earliest)

  • Do not be late….guests will not thank you if they are sitting in the heat for too long!

  • Have water available at the ceremony…if this is at a church then get your planner / groomsmen to take some in a cooler

  • Fans, parasols and shade are all important (and make for fab photos!)

Wet weather decision

From one weather extreme to another….if rain is forecasted, as upsetting as this can be for you, remember guests will vibe off your energy. They do not know the details of the original outdoor plan, so trust your supplier team to create a perfect new space and know that your guests will bring the energy wherever they are.

Steer clear of vibe-killers

We have seen it happen so many times…..these are what kills a vibe.

  • Long speeches

  • Moving too many times between spaces during the wedding day

  • Empty moments, which happen a lot when you transition between parts of the day and the energy drops

  • Long bride / groom outfit changes causing guests to wait for cake cutting / first dance

  • Lengthy group photo sessions
