Destination Details: Tuscany.
Where is it? Tuscany is in central Italy, well-known for it’s capital city Florence.
Airports: Two international airports - Pisa International Airport (PSA) & Florence Airport, Peretola (FLR). Flying to Perugia, Bologna or Rome is also an option but just a little bit further out.
What is the region famous for?
Its capital Florence is home to some of the world’s most recognizable Renaissance art and architecture, including Michelangelo’s "David" statue, Botticelli’s works in the Uffizi Gallery and the stunning Duomo basilica. Check out our article on the Top Ten not-to-be-missed things to do in Florence for more reasons why you simply must visit!
When many people think of Tuscany they picture the rolling hills and vineyards, of which of course there are many, but the region also offers a lot of diversity. In South Tuscany you will find golden rolling hills, haystacks and cypress trees around Val d’Orcia. Then you also have the medieval hilltop towns, like Montepulciano, Montalcino and San Gimignano as well as the rugged Apennine Mountains and the island of Elba’s beaches on the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The region really has it all - stunning coast line, mountains, beautiful lakes and rolling Tuscan hills.
Why get married here?
Great travel routes + ease of access: two international airports makes Tuscany easy to get to from most other countries. Once there Tuscany is easy to navigate by train and car. There are dual carriageways connecting the major towns and cities and trains are regular, well run and easy to use.
Fab cities for you and your guests to explore: Florence, Pisa and Siena are beautiful big cities but small enough to enjoy visiting for a day or two. You and your guests have easy access to enjoy these hot-spots on either side of the wedding celebrations.
Variety of venues + suppliers: there is a huge array of venues and suppliers to choose from in Tuscany. This generally makes for a good value wedding experience. The venues tend to be more flexible with their supplier policies too, meaning you can create a more unique and personalised event by picking to work with suppliers who you really resonate with and who more importantly, meet your budget!
Beautiful scenery: need we say more!
“Tuscany is popular for weddings because it really has it all. Easy transport routes, well connected roads, a huge range of venue styles and prices and diversity of suppliers. It allows you to create such a personalised wedding that’s magical and convenient for guests.”

PRICE - $$
Tuscany offers options to suit different budgets and generally the region offers a good value wedding experience. Venues are more flexible with their supplier policy, meaning you aren’t restricted to using certain caterers or other suppliers on your day. With the flexibility to shop around you can secure great suppliers for a fair / reasonable price.
Any negatives for this region of things to consider?
The best time of year for wedding here would be June, when the weather is warm (but not the hottest of the summer) and the land is still green and not parched. September is also nice as the grapes are in harvest, so the vines are looking lovely and full.
