Is Rome more expensive?

Tech and AV Considerations:

Be prepared for potentially higher costs associated with technical equipment. Lots of venues have non-negotiable suppliers for this, ask for costs before booking your venue.

Ensure your chosen vendors have experience working within the specific venue you select, as historical spaces might have limitations or require specialised equipment.

Guest Transportation:

Roman traffic can be unpredictable. Consider providing organised transportation for guests from designated pick-up points (like hotels) directly to your wedding venue. This minimises the risk of late arrivals and ensures a stress-free experience for your guests.

Public Transportation Options: If organised transport isn't in your budget, clearly communicate public transportation options and provide detailed directions to the venue on your wedding website or invitations.

Pre- and Post-Wedding Venues:

Premium Locations: While trendy restaurants and rooftop bars with stunning views offer a unique setting for pre-wedding dinners or post-wedding celebrations, be aware that these venues often come at a premium price.

Alternatives to Consider: Explore other options like local trattorias, hidden piazzas, or rooftop gardens with a slightly less exclusive feel. These can offer a more budget-friendly option while still capturing the essence of Rome.”

“Consider a shoulder season (March-April or October-November) for potentially better deals and slightly fewer crowds. Winters can be mild but might require more indoor space for the ceremony or reception.”

What are the advantages of a Rome wedding?

“Guaranteed Easy Access for Traveling Guests: Rome is a major international travel destination, boasting two international airports (Fiumicino and Ciampino) with connections to most major cities worldwide. Rome also boasts a great public transportation network of buses, metro lines, and taxis, allowing guests to navigate the city with ease.

Unparalleled Backdrops: Imagine exchanging vows in a historic church bathed in centuries of love stories, or celebrating under the stars with the Colosseum as your witness.

Culinary Delights: Indulge your guests with a taste of Italy's culinary heritage. Rome's renowned food scene offers endless options to create a truly memorable dining experience.”

Stand Out Moment

“When the surprise Italian singer sung the Andrea Bocelli verse of the first dance song AND the Bride's surprise baby announcement to the entire wedding while performing herself.”

What does a Rome wedding look like?

The Venue:

Villas and Gardens: Tucked away within the city or nestled in the surrounding countryside, enchanting grand villas and gardens offer a more glamorous setting for your wedding.

Luxury Hotels: Upscale hotels in Rome often boast elegant ballrooms, rooftop terraces with panoramic views, and beautifully landscaped gardens. These venues often offer comprehensive wedding packages that may include catering, accommodation for guests, and on-site coordination.

Restaurants and Rooftop Bars: Some trendy restaurants and rooftop bars with stunning city views can be rented for smaller, more intimate wedding celebrations or pre/post events.

The Duration:

While some historical venues or public spaces might have limitations, most wedding venues in Rome offer rental by the day. This typically includes a designated timeframe for setting up, holding the ceremony and reception, and then breaking down the space. It differs from regions like Tuscany for example that typically offer 2 or 3 night minimum hires.

The Accommodation:

Hotels: Luxury hotels with wedding packages often include accommodation for the couple and potentially a block of rooms for guests at a discounted rate.

Villas: Some larger villas might have on-site guest quarters or offer partnerships with nearby hotels for guest stays.

Standalone Venues: Standalone venues like historical sites or gardens typically won't offer on-site accommodation. However, Rome boasts a wide range of hotels and rentals, so this is the most favoured option.

The Ceremony:

Most opt to get married officially at home and have a symbolic ceremony in Rome. There are some venues that have the option of a civil-ceremony on site.

“Have a pre-wedding celebration at a trendy rooftop bar with breathtaking views of the city skyline. Imagine sipping cocktails overlooking the Pantheon or the Colosseum – an unforgettable way to kick off the festivities.

Or for a truly unique experience, consider a private guided tour of the Colosseum after dark.”

“Be aware that outdoor music in Rome typically has restrictions. Sound levels often need to be lowered or stopped altogether around 11pm due to noise ordinances. Discuss these limitations with your venue and factor them into your entertainment planning to ensure a smooth flow for your reception.”
