Roxanne and Josh’s wedding day looked a little different than they had originally planned. After a couple of covid delays pushing back their wedding year and with the arrival of their daughter, this wedding felt like more of a celebration of everything the past few years had thrown. Totally worth the wait…their day was magnificent, playful and had Tuscany at its best!

Married at Borgo Stomennano, outside of Siena in the awe-inspiring Tuscan countryside, the day was filled with laughter, family and friendships. And spoiler alert, this couple aren’t just sharing their stunning day with us, but giving out some invaluable tips when planning an Italian wedding.

“Vet all your suppliers and make sure you have a vision of things you would like, even if those initial ideas don’t stick“

How did you both meet?

“We met when we both lived in Leeds; we were friends for around 2 years (met through friends) before we got together and the rest they say is history!” Roxanne - bride

Best moment of your day?

“Seeing Roxanne walk down the aisle!” Josh - groom

“I would agree, walking down the aisle with the background was incredible - we had wonderful weather too. I really loved every minute of the day - It went far too quickly, the way the venue was set up was great - we had the ceremony and aperitifs in the front garden, moved to the back of the villa for our meal and then down to the pool for the party. It felt like three different weddings. I just loved every second of the day.” Roxanne - bride

Stand out Supplier?

“We had a wedding planner; they sourced all the suppliers aside from makeup/hair/photography. Shout out to Italy Weddings, they were absolutely fantastic. They sorted EVERYTHING and pulled off my dream, but actually made it better than I expected! I was so indecisive and nothing was too much trouble.

Ben who owns Italy weddings officiated the wedding and Cristina stayed all day and night they were just the best. We must have exchanged thousands of emails/calls/zoom meetings.”

“ Thank god our photographer, Lee Allison was still free for this day. He honestly captured our day perfectly, his photos were exactly what we wanted and he is just the most wonderful person!”

Why did you choose Italy?

“I have always wanted to get married in Italy, it’s my most favourite place in the world, I love the scenery, the weather the people and the food and I wanted a relaxed day with our closest friends and family and Italy was perfect!!!” Roxanne - bride

“Everyone says it but just enjoy the day and try not to stress too much, it goes far too quickly!”

“I would say to get a wedding planner - their services were invaluable.”

Advice from the wedding photographer

“It's your day so do it the way you want! If you're not big on some of the traditions then don't do them. Make sure you're comfortable with all aspects of the day.” Lee Allison - photographer

Best money spent

“On the venue - we booked the venue out for 4 days with our closest friends and family always staying there and it was just perfect from start to finish. The owner Luisa and the staff were brilliant and my god what a venue - we first saw it in 2018 and we instantly fell in love and I think our guests did too. Also the decoration on the table with the lights, candles and flowers!” Roxanne - bride

“The vibe on the day was just full of love, it was chilled, full of good food, great wine and fantastic company in a beautiful setting! ”

Stand out Moment

“Having the wedding breakfast under the Tuscan sky. Having your wedding dinner outside adds a magical aspect to the day and the space at Borgo Stomennano is just perfect for this.” Lee Allison - photographer

Would you do anything differently?

“We had to postpone twice due to Covid and then we had our little girl, I wouldn’t have changed anything, honestly the day was just absolutely perfect and honestly better than we expected, I wish we could re live this weekend over and over again!” Roxanne - bride

Any advice for readers currently planning their Italian weddings?

“Vet all your suppliers and make sure you have a vision of things you would like, even if those initial ideas don’t stick.

If you can afford it, I would say to get a wedding planner - their services were invaluable, they knew trusted suppliers and gave you a condensed list of these to make choosing a little easier.

Make sure you are prepared to have a couple trips for food tastings etc

If you are using a villa, I would say to really make the most of it and book for longer than just the wedding day

If you’re getting married in Tuscany make sure people are prepared to travel as some locations are rural - advise people to stock up on food/drink

Do Pinterest boards!” Roxanne - bride
