Rima + Gino’s intimate elopement in Rome
Dear elopement bride,
You might not have the big white dress, nor the entourage; no bridal bouquet, nor guests gasping at your big entrance. Perhaps no wedding cake nor cheering as you whirl around on the dance floor.
But what will you have? You will have one pair of eyes fixed on yours - and let’s be honest, they are the only ones which matter. You will have the words you’ve written only spoken to one person. You will have the feeling of being inside a magic bubble, with only room for two. And don’t forget, you will have the celebrations as you return home with your photos and rings!
Perhaps you have made this decision for financial reasons; perhaps because the limelight isn’t for you; perhaps you want to cherish a moment for the two of you. Whatever is behind your decision-making, know that yours is going to be a unique celebration, tailored for only you two.

The lovely Rima and Gino show us what it means to elope and why they made this big decision. Come on guys - the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum, a backdrop of breathtaking Rome in all its glory…if this isn’t raw romance, what is?
At the crack of dawn the couple wandered through a sleeping Rome to reach the Trevi Fountain and their chosen spot for their vows - and what a spot! An iconic moment in a very personal wedding. The couple spent 20,000 dollars on their wedding, with almost half of their budget going towards the honeymoon in Sicily. With no regrets, they spent two gorgeous weeks exploring Palermo, Favignana, Vittoria, Ragusa, and Ortigia.

Why did you choose to elope?
“We spent many evenings walking our dog, talking about how we wanted to celebrate our decision to get married, but nothing ever completely felt right. I am a wedding photographer and have my own relationship to the wedding industry, which made it tough to see myself as a bride. After many of these nightly walks, we realized we kept coming back to the idea of eloping in Italy. Gino is Italian, I studied abroad in Italy, and we both agreed that we wanted a meaningful experience more than we wanted to plan a complex event that we would ultimately end up getting lost in. We love our families and realized we'd be sacrificing their involvement by making this decision but we ultimately decided that we wanted this day to be a quiet and personal experience for just the two of us.” Rima - bride
What was your biggest challenge when planning your wedding?
“We planned our elopement in four weeks and struggled to find vendors who were willing to work with us so last minute. We were lucky to find a celebrant and photographer right away, but it was a real struggle to find a dress and rings as those things take time to make. So many of my favorite designers turned us down but in the end we found people who were excited to work with us and it all worked out.” Rima - bride
How would you describe the vibe of your day?
“We were up at 4am and married by 6am to avoid the heat and crowds so the day had that special feeling you get at sunrise where you feel like you're getting away with something. The light was beautiful, we had the Trevi fountain (almost) to ourselves, and we had nowhere to be and no-one to please, it was perfect.” Rima - bride
Stand out Moment
“We ended our time with our photographer by going back to our hotel and popping some Champagne and eating pizza in bed. These made for some great photos but that was also the part of the day that was the most "us" and it felt great to just let loose, relax, and have some fun. Our photographer (Sophie) was totally game and got some great shots of this part of the day.” Rima - bride
