Maria + Angelo’s timeless and chic vineyard wedding in Puglia

Photography: Diego Mariella | Wedding Planning: Alessandra Linoci Events

Hold on to your hats people, you’re seriously in for a treat with this one!

Maria and Angelo celebrated with 350 of their friends and family at Masseria Sàmia, the vineyard and farm where they live and work. They wanted a timeless and truly Italian celebration that showed off their love for their motherland, beautiful Puglia.

They pulled together a team of incredible Italian suppliers that not only created a truly magical and heartfelt day but also had a full-on biblical storm to contend with.

We absolutely love how the table design reflects the surrounding vineyard rows and how the flower colours and styling details match the warm Puglian landscape. Oh and that lighting created a serious vibe! And as Maria says in her words of wisdom below, “once the vibe is right, everything will follow.” We couldn’t agree more!

Thanks to the wonderful couple Maria + Angelo and amazing La Lista members Diego Mariella and Alessandra Linoci for sharing this wedding with us and walking us through the details and stand-out moments of the day.

We know that this incredible supplier dream-team put their hearts and souls into the pulling off this extraordinary and unforgettable celebration for Maria and Angelo!

THE PLAN -

“The biggest challenge was to create a warm and cosy atmosphere that still felt ‘intimate’ and personal despite the large number of guests. It was clear from our very first conversation that they dreamt of a timeless and chic celebration, rustic yet sophisticated, but especially heartfelt, fun and simple.”

ON WHAT MADE THIS DAY AUTHENTIC -

“Hosting the wedding at the vineyards where they live and work meant Maria and Angelo had total freedom to shape the day exactly the way they truly wanted, reflecting their simple and genuine souls.”

THE DRESS -

“Maria wore a custom gown by Alberta Ferretti that truly enhanced her natural elegance and simplicity; minimal lines and statement billowing silk sleeves that floated beautifully as she moved. A dreamy long veil embroidered with fine lace details completed the look in the most artful way possible.”

STANDOUT MOMENT -

“Leading up to the wedding there had been no rain for a couples of months and on the day we knew that a storm was about to arrive. And there it was, right in the middle of the ceremony! Everything was calm and full of emotion, and suddenly we were all hit by powerful gusts of wind and the sky turned grey and threatening. Maria and Angelo were exchanging vows in this surreal, magical scenario and despite the crazy weather everyone was right there in the emotions with them. It’s a moment I will never forget!”

THE STORM -

“All of the suppliers worked hard to protect all the work done up to that moment, the glasses were saved, the power repaired and the 120 meters of tables were promptly covered with sheets that swelled in the wind like sails. I don’t think anyone that was there will ever forget those minutes (especially the suppliers!) In the end the storm simply went around us and there was a very fine rain. The guests enjoyed an extended aperitivo under the canopy and then the night continued seamlessly under the stars.”

THE VIBE -

Maria says, “it was a fantastic vibe. People were happy, smiling and having a positive effect on those around them. This is something that every wedding should achieve. Once the vibe is the right one, everything will follow.”

FAVE STYLING DETAIL -

“There were so many! If I had to pick one then the amazing cocktail bar which was completely transformed and covered with flowers by the magical hands of Angelica at Flower Addicted. She really made wonders on the day despite the very complex logistics and weather. The blooms she used were so gorgeous!”

THE DETAILS -

“Another favourite detail was the 100 meters of beautiful toile de jouy in cream and burgundy that was used throughout the reception to make custom tablecloths for the aperitivo, pillows for the picnic areas and napkins for dinner.”

FAVE STYLING DETAIL -

Maria says, “it’s very difficult to answer to this question. We felt that everything was perfectly combined, starting from the flowers to the plates, to the stationery, to the music. Alessandra did a fantastic job suggesting different things to choose from, and together we made the best choices. It was just perfect.”

STANDOUT SUPPLIER -

Maria says, “everyone did their best to make our wedding a perfect day. Nevertheless, Rotondo Catering did an exceptional job with their staff. And Alba from Rotondo, well, she was amazing. She didn’t leave anything to chance.”

THE FOOD -

“The food was one aspect the couple didn't want to compromise on. The couple’s aim was to delight the palates of their guests with simple flavours featuring fresh local ingredients of the highest quality. The collaboration with Rotondo was fantastic as they were able to build a menu together that was completely tailored to the couple's taste. All the courses were beautifully presented and served on classic Richard Ginori plates that made the experience even more incredible.”

THE LIGHTING -

“Lighting was also a priority for Maria and Angelo. They didn't want anything too bright so we opted for typical festoon lights for the aperitivo while for dinner we went for a more magical and atmospheric set up made of bundles of fairy lights that ran along the imperial tables, mimicking the rows of the surrounding vineyards.”

THE DESSERTS -

“A particularly beautiful moment was when the couple and their guests were treated to the award-winning delights of renowned pastry chef Corrado Assenza, who arrived in Puglia directly from Sicily to personally prepare his ricotta and pistachio desserts. Everyone was in heaven!”

THE MUSIC -

“Maria + Angelo have always wanted a party full of music and lightheartedness. A dear friend of the couple, who is a popular Italian artist Renzo Rubino, performed and also involved several artists from the national scene, creating a party with a some serious energy and fun. The couple also received as a gift a ballad composed especially for them by Renzo…the tears and emotions flowed!”
