Lucy + Sean’s laid-back-luxe wedding in the heart of Tuscany

Lucy + Sean’s day was a laid-back-luxe affair, full of timeless + simple styling details. They had a full three-day celebration at the beautiful Borgo Corsignano with 110 guests, where they had a welcome pizza + pool party and a Sunday BBQ on either side of the main event.

On the wedding day, they kept things simple but impactful, with lots of cascading greenery and eucalyptus paired with white florals + ribbons...oh, and one very impressive flower arch! Along with Lucy’s sleek and minimalist Pronovias gown and Sean + his Groomsmen in classic tuxedos...this really was one hell of a stylish affair. All beautifully captured by epic photographer and I quote “true gem” Harry Michael.

Lucy & Sean take us through their day and give us their must-know advice on planning a wedding in Tuscany.

Lucy on how they approached their wedding planning -

“We were living in Australia at the time and so we hired a local Italian wedding planner to help with the process. To be honest, because of this, I sort of had to 'let go' a bit and just trust the process and the local suppliers. My main piece of advice would be to find a planner that you connect with and trust. There will be things that are out of your control and you want to be confident that they will advocate for you and tell you all of the need-to-know information.”

“We had a friend who did the translation of the service, so despite it being in Italian, it felt super personal and lovely. We had a civil ceremony but I am CofE, and the local laws allowed us to blend both of our views into our service - we had a bible reading by my brother-in-law (this wouldn't have been allowed in the UK)”

“The weather was not in our favour unfortunately...but with a bit of last-minute shuffling around on the day, it actually worked out amazingly! Our ceremony was under a covered gazebo structure and was so beautiful it didn't matter. I just had to let go on the day as it was so out of my control and I wanted to enjoy it.”

Lucy on her favourite styling details -

“I loved the flowers and the bridesmaid dresses. The flowers turned out a million times better than I had hoped as I picked all the 'budget' options but they were stunning and my floral arch which I dreamed of was divine.”

“Everything turned out amazing. You really don't sweat the small stuff on the big day, there is no time to think about it. Also, the planners are professionals and they really do think of everything - it looked amazing and perfect and better than I could have imagined.”

Lucy + Sean on the best money they spent -

Harry our photographer - we would have paid double for him! He was so friendly and personal and all the guests loved him and commented on how great he was. He helped direct the day too and suggested different things for when our weather cleared for confetti throwing and photos which all worked perfectly. He was a true gem. Beyond the wedding, the money we spent on the welcome dinner and the pool party the next day was definitely the best. Was so nice to spend time with everyone and enjoy ourselves.”

“One stand out moment was when Sean and I walked into our dinner reception together as man and wife...I remember our favourite song came on and everyone was cheering and just as we stepped inside the heavens opened and a thunderstorm commenced! It was really magical and I just remember dancing to my seat and being so happy. Didn't even look at the table decorations!”

“My standout moment of Lucy + Sean’s day was catching that Tuscan sunset before it started to absolutely chuck it down!”

Harry Michael, Photographer

“I think our biggest win was firstly finding Harry to do our photography. An absolute fluke but also fate when my original photographer dropped out a month before the wedding (I could only laugh as it wasn't worth stressing about). Secondly our venue, it was literally amazing and the staff there treated us like family! I even caught the owner pushing my niece in a pram at one point to get her to sleep. It was so sweet.”
