Jodie + Matt’s elegant yet relaxed Tuscan wedding
Jodie and Matt’s wedding struck such a perfect balance between relaxed style and elegance. But that is exactly what you want when you are planning your wedding to host your nearest and dearest, plus including your 2 children in your celebration. Married on their 10 year anniversary at Agriturismo La Dogana, overlooking Lake Trasimeno, the couple and their guests enjoyed the lush green of the Umbrian / Tuscan border with the refreshing views of the water. Oh, and the food - one of the key reasons Jodie and Matt chose to marry in Italy was the epic gastronomy and it certainly didn’t disappoint! By having all guests staying at the venue, created a real holiday vibe and ensured quality time together was central to the celebration.

How did you first meet?
“Matthew and I met on Facebook! We already knew of each other through friends but it was Facebook that brought us together. We got married on our 10th year together. ” Jodie - bride
Any tips for future couples planning their Italian weddings?
“Be prepared for the heat! We chose June thinking it would be around 20 degrees, however it was a heatwave so we could have prepared better for that. We also loved that we chose a venue where all guests could stay together before and after the wedding. We all had a lovely break together. ”

“Stand out moment has to be the ceremony overlooking Parco Regionale del Lago Trasimeno. La Rocca di Passignano sul Trasimeno is just stunning for a wedding ceremony.” Lee - photographer
Top piece of advice
“Sounds a bit cliche but definitely hire a wedding planner. This is even more important for a destination wedding. They'll know the best locations, venues and suppliers. They will also be able to alleviate the stress that can go along with planning a wedding”

“We loved that we chose a venue where all guests could stay together before and after the wedding.”
How did you approach the planning and styling to make sure it felt personal to you?
“We made lots of mood boards with our planner and were given visuals from our planner to see what suited our style the most.” Jodie - bride
Stand out Supplier
“To be honest we cannot fault the service from the Italian suppliers. We were due to be married in 2020 during COVID but couldn’t go ahead until 2022. All the suppliers were understanding and we had very little to no price increase, even with multiple date changes. But our stand out supplier would have to be Lucia at La Dogana. She went above and beyond to make the whole experience run as smoothly as possible.” Jodie - bride
Why Italy?
“We chose Italy because we loved that we could get the green of the countryside along with the Mediterranean heat. Plus the food! ” Jodie - bride
Biggest planning challenge
“Biggest challenge for us was the flights. The original flights that all our guests booked were cancelled, so we have to spend a lot of time sorting and re-booking. Our coach transfers were extremely accommodating so that made it smoother once we were in Italy. I would also say hair and makeup was quite challenging as you want to visit enough to ensure it’s how you like it.” Jodie - bride
