From two different worlds - Cheng, from Shanghai, and Maurizio, from Bari, found love while studying in Paris and decided to make it their forever home. After getting engaged in 2022, choosing Maurizio’s homeland for their wedding was an easy decision - they had their hearts set on one place!

As self-confessed foodies they’d been to many Masserias but nothing compared to Masseria Moroseta and it became the perfect setting for their stylish celebration that honoured both their cultures.

"Cheng fell in love with their venue and said- ‘If one day we celebrate our wedding, I want to have it at Moroseta, no alternatives to consider. I’d rather not have a wedding if it’s not going to be at Moroseta!’"

The Engagement

“The proposal day is a rather funny story. I knew for a fact that Cheng doesn’t really like surprises in public, and generally, she doesn’t want to be the center of attention. We are both foodies, and we love seafood, so I decided to have a fancy seafood dinner at a restaurant. The outcome of my proposal was a positive answer (luckily), but we both experienced some disruption during the night, most probably because of the seafood! Since then, we’ve only had seafood if it’s Japanese and have avoided oysters in particular.”

Why Puglia?

“I’m from Bari and every year we spend 1-2 weeks in Ostuni where my family is originally from, and I have a lot of relatives there. Cheng and I are big foodies and we explore new restaurants on a weekly basis. We’ve had dinner at literally all Masserias between Bari and Ostuni - not meaning to find a wedding venue, but simply to try the chef’s creations but we ended up finding one that stood out.”

The Venue

“I found Masseria Moroseta by chance back in summer 2022 and we fell in love with it since the first time we had dinner there. With its minimalistic design and outstanding Chef it stood out as venue to us when it came to our wedding it was our only option. We liked it so much that we decided to have a smaller wedding at 80 guests instead of the usual Italian wedding with more than 120 guests.”

Stand out moment

“The most emotional moment of the day for me was the photo session we did at sunset. It was nice to see them relaxed and able to enjoy the moment and let themselves go in front of the camera.”

The Style

“The wedding was a mix of tradition, culture and fashion, I really enjoyed seeing these things mixed with authenticity and so much emotion.”

The Budget

“We paid exactly what we expected to pay - Cheng is a master of budgeting. She’s a Marketing Manager but she doesn’t realise how skilled she is at financial planning and that helped us stay on track.”

Stand out suppliers

“Our wedding planner Giusy D’Ambrosio, she made our wedding magic, nothing went wrong when planning because of her- top notch talent. Also Assunta Simone for the amazing photos and Annalori Blasi for the stunning candles and flowers.”

Blending cultures

“We really wanted to bring in elements of Cheng’s Chinese culture to make the day feel personal and special. Cheng’s red qipao and my black changshan were a way to add a beautiful, cultural touch to our day. Our wedding was in Puglia (my homeland) so it was important to us that both of our cultures were part of this special day, making it a true blend of who we are.”
