The best ways to manage your money when having an Italian Wedding

Set a budget

The most important thing to do when managing your money is to have a wedding budget. Being clear on your budget allows you to make informed decisions throughout planning. This can ensure you get the suppliers you want – if you don’t know your budget at the start of planning, it may mean you overspend in one area and underspend or compromise in another. Having a budget allows you to be conservative in the right places and splurge in others. Only with this insight can you create the best wedding possible.

Use your budget to track when payments are due so that you can create a savings plan alongside and you’ll never get caught out.

Set up a Revolut account

It essentially works like a savings account and you can transfer money in to the account from your currency to euro at any time. So if the exchange rate is particularly good, you can make the most of it and make a big transfer that day. What’s more, you can even earn rewards. Find out more here.

Get clear on taxes

There are two levels of tax in Italy and things are charged at either 10% or 22%. The amount of tax charged depends on the goods/service type or the business size/type itself.

Some examples of tax points:

  • Accommodation is usually 10%

  • Catering service is usually 10%

  • Hiring of equipment (chairs, tables etc.) is usually 22%

It’s best to confirm that the tax ahead of signing a contract with a venue or supplier and have it in writing on the contract.
