Covid Wedding News - 19th April 21

We held a Covid Q&A for couples and suppliers on the weekend, with the help of Margherita from La Pescaia Resort. It was really informative and we all came away feeling really positive for the summer.

The Headlines

• Italy’s announced the gradual easing of lockdown from the 26th April and it will become law in the next few days

• From 26th April it’s expected that most of Italy will be in the yellow zone (second to lowest level)

• While we’re on the same track as last year (which is positive) there’s some differences:

o Italy has a different president and things seem more organised

o This year there will be rules clearly in place and things open, arguably more slow and controlled than last year which is positive in the long term and is done with the intention that there’s no going backwards

o The vaccine is finally hitting it’s daily targets

• To move (more) freely we will likely need a pass that shows whether you’ve been vaccinated, had a negative test, have antibodies – it sounds like this is being worked out on a global level but there’s more info from the EU here.

What does this mean for weddings?

- We can expect clear guidelines from the start

- Limits on guests will be down to space, not set numbers (more on this and how this affects your wedding in detail, to come later this week)

- All governments understand we need time to plan and want to give us time to plan travel and events. Most have agreed to watch lists for countries and weekly announcements regarding events

MEGA MAY

May will be a turning point when we'll have more info on the pass, or it will go live. Italy has clear vaccine targets to hit and travel is due to become legal in the UK again.

If you’re going ahead for this year, we suggest planning to contact all guests in mid-May, letting them know the rules as they are then and gather a final RSVP.

If you’d like to watch the zoom session, join our couples Facebook group - where there's a link to the video and you’ll be kept up to date with any covid-wedding news and speak to likeminded couples.

We’ll be back with an article on how spacing rules will affect details of your weddings later this week.
