Why a wedding website is always a good idea

Wedding Website by White Vines Studio

When hosting an Italian wedding, there’s quite a bit of info to communicate to your guests. At La Lista we’re huge fans of paper stationery but there’s some things that the digital world can just do better. Hear us out!

A wedding website offers a space that can be constantly updated with new information. So if your plans change, or become more concrete (think times and locations for other wedding events), you have more exciting advice for your guests whether that’s accommodation or things to do, you can update the website at any time.

You’re under less pressure to have everything ready for that invite send, which can also be awkwardly timed (and never quite right).

THOSE ALL IMPORTANT STATIONERY TIMINGS

If we were hosting an Italian wedding next year, this is what we’d do:

12+ months out

Send out save the dates (paperless post or paper) with location and date of wedding events and a link to your wedding website hosting key info:

• Accommodation recommendations: we always suggest encouraging guests to stay as close to the venue as possible, to make transport easier and cost efficient for everyone.

• Transport information: good flight routes and deals, taxi numbers and transfer numbers.

• Early RSVP: indicative RSVP of whether guests are likely to attend, so you can invite more guests if you have space, or better budget throughout the rest of planning.

6+ months out

Invite and wedding website update with definite locations and timings of all events and AoB e.g. Covid update, transfer times if you’re providing buses. Wedding websites also have great RSVP functionality where you could capture:

• RSVP to all events

• Dietary requirements

• Transport requirements

• Accommodation address (for planning transport routes as above)

1-3 months out

Any final information including specific bus collection times etc.

Some websites also offer the functionality of sending wedding branded emails to your guests which can also be a great way to communicate in between the gorgeous printed stationery you’ll be sending.

There are some great website hosts out there. Our couples recommend The Knot, With Joy and Minted. For a small fee, Appy Couple and Hitched are also great.

If you’re time poor and would like a fully bespoke website with unique URL, you can use Squarespace, Wix or Wordpress to build your own. White Vines Studio, proud La Lista member specialise in building wedding websites.
