5 Italian Wedding Venue tips from a top planner

Choosing your wedding venue is one of the hardest and most influential decisions you’ll make in planning.  It impacts all the other aspects of your wedding and your budget. Having planned so many weddings, we can flag what the venue impacts further down the line, so you can  make better decisions upfront when finalising your venue choice.

We’ve outlined our 5 must knows when choosing an Italian Wedding Venue.

1. Enjoy the process

Finding your venue can feel like a lot and it can get overwhelming. Take the pressure off yourself by giving yourself the time to enjoy the process. There are thousands of venues out there and there will be a date for you. It’s better to do this properly and take your time than rush in to any decisions.

2. List your must haves

Set a clear criteria for your wedding venue. Much like house hunting, you should identify a list of things the venue will have and ensure you carefully mark each venue against this criteria. Whilst this list may change over time as you learn more about venues, it will be a good grounding point of comparison and keep you grounded in what you really want from a venue.

Venue: Casa Olivi, Merche

3. Be selective

Remember that not all venues are good wedding venues. It can be tempting to get carried away and review hundreds of venues. It’s better to consider a more refined list of venues (your criteria will help here) and source venues from credible places like lalista.com where we only list venues we know are great wedding venues and meet all of our internal criteria – we’ve vetted them for you.

4. Real reviews

Don’t follow the followers. It’s easy to think that big Instagram followings mean amazing venues, but believe us from working at all these venues – big accounts do not equal perfect venues. If you’ve shortlisted venues, connect with couples that have planned weddings there and had their wedding days – there is no better review than this. Our La Lista facebook group is a great place to find other couples.

5. Ask the right questions

Rules, rules, rules. The most important part of the venue hunt is identifying all venue costs and rules. You don’t want to find out later that you can’t have a pool party, or boogie past 12am. Or that there’s a fee to use the kitchen or bring in an external caterer. Make sure these rules and additional costs are clear – the best way to get these is to ask at your visit. We’ve made a handy ticklist for you with all the questions to ask.
