Sophie + Rob’s Puglian dream wedding

FUN - Sophie and Rob’s wedding was all about this 3 letter word! This Australia-based couple celebrated their wedding day in true La Dolce Vita style, with 85 guests at the heavenly Puglian venue, Masseria Potenti. The couple’s style, infectious spark and surprisingly relaxed vibes complemented the venue so effortlessly.

So much trust went into planning this wedding, as neither Sophie or Rob could visit the venue or meet suppliers until the wedding itself. As the music started and the sun dipped, the wedding really came alive with happy faces and electric energy. Sophie describes the atmosphere “We were both really relaxed on the day (I really surprised myself!) and I think that really helped to set a tone for everyone else. So much laughter, love and joy filled the space!”

“My biggest worry was 'what if the day wasn't everything that I'd hoped for and what if something goes wrong!?'“

Stand out Supplier

“Our photographer, Harry. He was a total legend and captured our day so perfectly - we're forever grateful that he was able to squeeze us in and know that we've made a friend for life!” Sophie - bride

How did you approach your wedding planning to make sure the day was what you wanted and felt personal to you?

“A surprisingly relaxed approach as we put a lot of trust into our amazing wedding planner. We didn't follow all of the standard 'wedding traditions' and added our own twist to things which really made our day feel super personal and special to us.” Sophie - bride

“We evolved the budget a number of times and probably went over our very initial budget by about 50%”

“Due to Covid we actually never got to see our wedding venue before we arrived for the wedding or do the tasting session - but our planner was amazing and really helped us through.”

“My husband actually forgot our wedding bands (!!)”

Biggest wedding win

“I genuinely think the biggest win for us was being able to have our destination wedding with all of our friends and family from across the world, after the tough few years that we all faced.” Sophie - bride

“Pay for an extra hour of bar service on the wedding night. Trust me, you won't want the party to end!”

Favourite styling detail?

“The venue had really beautiful taste and we put total trust in them to design the table layout which they did so perfectly. It was a gorgeous mix of florals, table lights, candles, lemons and our personalised hand-painted menus. They know the space so well, what photographs well, what looks best, what's most practical etc. - so I think it's important to listen to and trust your venue and work collaboratively with them to bring your vision to life.” Sophie - bride

“I honestly wouldn’t change a thing.”

What was the biggest challenge when planning your wedding?

“We're based in Sydney, Australia and our venue was based in Italy - so we had to put a lot of trust into our wedding planner due to language and travel barriers. I am a mild control freak and work in PR and events, so it was a little challenging at times for me! Due to Covid we actually never got to see our wedding venue before we arrived for the wedding or do the tasting session - but our planner was amazing and really helped us through.” Sophie - bride

Did anything go wrong, when planning or on the day?

“Nothing majorly went wrong (thankfully!), but I did learn from our Best Man's speech that my husband actually forgot our wedding bands (!!) - thankfully, we had friends flying out after we had left who brought them over for us, but I would say that they're a pretty important part of the ceremony so please don't make the same mistake he did!” Sophie - bride
