Sofi + Pavel’s elegant wedding on the Amalfi coast

An elegant, modern August wedding on the Amalfi coast surrounded by stylish guests was what Sofi + Pavel dreamed of. Engaged in Lake Como the couple had initially planned for a lakeside wedding but allowing only 2 months of planning time they soon realised a different location would need to be considered. Thankfully Amalfi and their chosen venue, Villa Vettica delivered on the breathtaking seascapes Sofi had envisioned.

Sofi + Pavel did things their way, by spending the morning of their wedding together with their friends poolside admiring the unrivalled panoramic views. A fun way to splash off last minute wedding nerves!

The Dating

“We met each other on the 8th of October, engaged on the 8th May, so our special number became 8.”

The Engagement

“1.5 years into our relationship, on the 8th of May we came to Lake Como. It was a rainy weather all day, but Pavel insisted we should go on a boat trip. When we started our journey, the clouds parted and it was beautiful on the lake and at this very moment Pavel went on one knee. It was surprising and magical.”

Why did you choose Italy?

“My dream was always to have a wedding by the sea. And here I see beautiful Amalfi on photos and that is exactly the place of my dreams.  On the wedding day it was so gloomy and rainy and at the beginning I was very upset - I was not in the mood I had imagined for my wedding day.”

“We wanted our special day to happen in Como, but as we tried to have the wedding as soon as possible (in 2 months) … everything was booked and it was impossible.”

Did anything go wrong?

“The rain blew all decorations and it was very damp.”

Stand Out Moment

“At the time of the ceremony the sun appeared and we driving in a retro cabriolet along the Amalfi coast. This was the first remarkable moment. All the cars stopped on the embankment so that we could have a photo shoot in the most beautiful place. Local people congratulated us, applauded and moved cars for us.”

The styling

“The core element which I dreamed for the reception was a mirror table, crystal chandeliers and white flowers. Minimalism, Italian style! With guests in black and lots of the fishtail dress-styles. All was ideal.  ”
