Spellbound and completely mesmerised - Rachel & Chris have us utterly in awe of their elopement wedding day. San Galgano Abbey was the setting and wow did it deliver powerful beauty!

After Covid struck again the couple decided to change their hopes of a wedding in their home country, Australia and elope across the world to say their ‘I dos’. The date had special significance for them both and was a non-negotiable; so with a team of incredible suppliers and master planner Veronica Regis Wedding Planner they were able to get married only a couple of months after making the decision.

Planning the wedding

“From day one we wanted to both contribute to and agree on all the major elements of the wedding day. We built a Pinterest board of the vibe we wanted and shared this with Veronica, our wedding planner, who helped us bring this to life. On the day we played a spotify playlist that we had created with our favourite songs. We also wrote our own vows, but shared a common final sentence we'd chosen together. We tried to plan as much as possible, so that we didn't miss anything, whilst keeping space for a few surprises!” Rachel - bride

Stand out moment

“One small moment we'll always remember is standing hand in hand outside San Galgano Abbey just before we entered to get married. As they opened the huge wooden doors we both turned to each other and this wave of emotion rushed over us. Neither of us spoke but we could both see we were feeling the exact same thing.” Rachel - bride

Favourite part of the day

“The ceremony… they entered together in this amazing and really suggestive old abbey.

For them has been very important to find a place incredibly stunning and unforgettable. The Abbey of San Galgano is perfect for this. When they read their vows it was so romantic and emotional!!!” Veronica - wedding planner from Veronica Regis Wedding Planner

Challenges

“Getting legally married in Italy is no small feat. As a foreign couple it involved multiple appointments in multiple cities, we really couldn't have done it without a wedding planner. Despite the effort it was well worth it, we were able to get married on our 9 year anniversary by the mayor of a small Tuscan town called Chiusdino. She was so proud to be marrying us and gave us each a gift afterwards. It's a memory we'll always keep with us that added to how special the day was.” Rachel - bride

Vibe on the day

“It was very intimate and personal. One of the benefits of eloping is that the day is practically stress free. Whilst we would have loved to share the moment with family and friends (and will be at a later date in Australia), it was definitely nice not to have to worry about small details such as table settings, run sheets, and whether everything is going to plan. All we were focused on was one another and enjoying ourselves in the moment.” Rachel - bride
