Meredith + Jordan’s floral Tuscan wedding

With their guests travelling from 8 different countries, Meredith and Jordan had some specific boxes which needed checking when it came to finding their dream venue. Currently living in Canada, UK-born Jordan and Canadian Meredith, dreamt of a 3 day celebration uniting 80 of their friends and family all staying under one roof for the entire weekend. Passionate about travel, the couple had never visited Tuscany until they landed to view their already booked venue, Villa Barberino.

“We wanted our guests to leave our wedding weekend having spent time together and feel like they really got to know each other. We were exploring a few other countries in Europe, but Italy had by far the best options to fit our needs.”

The Dating

“We met in 2017 playing beer pong at a house party Meredith hosted for her housemate in Toronto. Our mutual friend introduced us, and the rest is history!”

The Engagement

“I proposed at the end of Canadian Thanksgiving dinner in October 2021, surrounded by both our families at Meredith's parents' house. Meredith had no idea it was coming, it was a complete surprise!”

“We definitely went over our budget but it was all so worth it to us.

How did you choose your venue?

“After virtually reviewing over a dozen venues with our wedding planner, we narrowed it down to three venues. We wanted our guests to stay on site, June availability, a venue with a pool and Italian character - our top three venues all happened to be in Tuscany, despite having never been there before. We ended up going with Villa Barberino, as beyond the phenomenal scenery the area was accessible by car, had nearby international airports, proximity to train stations and major cities. Even arriving on a rainy December afternoon to do a tour after booking, the venue took our breath away with some incredible views over the Tuscan hills.”

Stand Out Moment

“It’s so difficult to choose a moment as we were fortunate to have three days of celebrations. The moments that still stand out to us are the surprise gelato truck after our welcome dinner, as well as walking into the courtyard and seeing all the table decorations for our wedding reception!”

Did anything go wrong?

“We were pleasantly surprised at how smooth the whole planning process was for us. Given we started planning over 18 months before our wedding, it gave us the time to get our first choice of vendors, this was all driven by our wedding planner. There were a few minor challenges but all-in-all much less stressful than anticipated.”

Top Advice for Future Couples

“Get a local wedding planner. If you don't speak Italian, it is super helpful to have someone to know and interact with vendors as well as familiarity with the region you're getting married in. Our planner (Wed in Florence) was great and an expert in Tuscan weddings, knowing a lot of great vendors and helped us navigate what worked best for us while being in Canada. ”

Stand Out Supplier

“Our flowers by Stiatti Fiori absolutely blew everyone away. It is always tough to gauge from a collaborative digital mood board and one in-person meeting how your vision will come to life, but they really exceeded expectations with our amazing table setup and flowers. They were all so colourful and in-bloom which really provided the wow-factor! We were also delighted with our photographer (Love Folio) and videographer (Over The Lens).”
