Vision for the day

“Shrey and I both envisioned our wedding to happen in the countryside, so nature had to be a core element of our big day. We wanted a rustic feel to our day, with some chic elements that would be in harmony with the environment.” Giulia - bride

How would you describe the vibe on the day?

“Being an intercultural couple, we wanted the atmosphere of our big day to feel as inclusive and comfortable as possible. Our wedding guests were a complex mix of multiple nationalities, religions, cultures, and languages, so we wanted to ensure everyone felt welcomed and cared for. We wanted the day to feel mindful and warm and for this we made sure to take every decision very intentionally. We curated the experience to be representing our values as a couple.”

The Ceremony

“We decided to create our own ceremony so it could be representative of our journey and values as a couple. We asked one of our best friends to be the celebrant. He was the one who convinced me to go on that first date with Shrey and the first to meet him and in a way, “Approve” of him.

The ceremony was bilingual, held both in Italian and English, to ensure everyone could understand it and had 3 core moments: our friends’ speeches, the Unity Candle ritual, and the exchange of rings and vows.” Giulia - bride

What was the standout moment of the day for you?

“The Unity Candle Ritual was the most powerful moment of the ceremony. Both our mothers lit the candles and passed it on to us. During this time, we asked our guests to close their eyes and share a prayer, a wish or a happy thought to us as a couple. We felt so much loving energy around us. Some people meditated, some prayed, some simply thought about us. It was magical.

We picked the Unity Candle ritual as fire and light are core elements in both Hindu and Catholic weddings.”

Combining multi-cultural touches in the day

“We wanted the wedding to be inspired as much as possible by the Italian tradition. This is because we wanted to give Shrey’s family and friends the complete Italian wedding experience. We do wish to have an Indian Wedding too one day so we preferred to not mix and match too much. Still, we did include small Indian elements in our wedding to emphasise our intercultural relationship.” Giulia - bride

The Wedding Menu

“We picked Alfonso Muzzi because they are known for the attention to details and the care they put in every single element. By choosing them, we chose to give our guests an unforgettable experience. They immediately understood our needs and came up with a proposal that was tailored to us. The team’s professionalism and precision in the execution was unmatchable and every guest still talks about them as the best they have ever experienced in a wedding.” Giulia - bride

Memories to treasure

“What was incredibly special was that we had both our grandparents present in the wedding. Both Shrey’s grandparents and my grandparents are over 80 years old, and have not been very well, so it was a miracle that they could travel all the way from India to be there.” Giulia - bride

Biggest challenge

“The logistics of being in Germany and planning a wedding in Italy was no easy feat. However, Alessio, our designer and Roberto, our planner ensured the best result. We relied on them to plan, coordinate and manage every aspect and detail of our wedding. Also, the pandemic led to a couple of delays in our wedding — we definitely experienced postponement fatigue. We had to wait for the Schengen visa applications to be opened so we could celebrate our special day with our loved ones. In fact, there were some last minute cancellations as some of our guests didn't manage to get the visa on time.” Giulia - bride

Dress change!

“During the reception, as a surprise for my grandmother, I changed into the wedding dress that my mother wore on her wedding day. It was a really emotional moment as the dress was designed by my Grandmother (she was a tailor) who did not know anything about it. She was so surprised and emotional when she saw me in that dress. My mom's dress was crafted by my grandmother more than 40 years ago with original YSL fabrics.” Giulia - bride

Advice for other couples planning an Italian wedding

“Have a wedding planner and a wedding designer - you will definitely not regret it! They will not only help you tick the boxes on the long to-do list, but they take the time to truly get to know you and your fiancé. Developing that relationship and building that trust early on in the process is essential as it helps in creating a ceremony that is beautiful, meaningful and within budget.” Giulia -bride
