Having always envisioned an intimate destination wedding, New York-born Caitlyn and Virginia-born Christopher brought their dream to life in the very place where their wedding journey began - Tuscany, the place they got engaged in 2022.

After researching online and in couples communities, they stumbled upon Castello Vicchiomaggio by chance and it quickly became the perfect setting for their dream wedding. Not only did they fall in love with Vicchiomaggio without even seeing it in person, but it also far exceeded all of their expectations. “The venue was absolutely breathtaking, even more stunning in person- and the staff were true professionals.”

Why Italy?

“We got engaged in October 2022 on a trip to Italy! We were in Florence when he popped the question. So partly because we got engaged there, but also because I had always wanted a small destination wedding. We love travelling so it felt right for us!”

“We went over our budget. With everything (flights, vendors, outfits), we spent close to $75K”

Did anything go wrong in planning?

“We didn't feel there were any major pitfalls! I think a big part of that is the vendors we worked with were so great and true professionals. You hear of destination wedding horror stories, so we were pleasantly surprised that everything went so smoothly.”

“I did lots of research and joined groups for brides having a destination wedding in Italy to get the ball rolling. I found Vicchiomaggio by chance there and fell in love with it.”

“Plan early, stay organised and for sure hire a day coordinator who has worked with your venue before. This really helps you and your partner relax and be present in the day. ”

Would you have changed anything?

“We loved every moment of our wedding day and we didn't add too many frills. If there was one thing, I would say switch your 'First Dance' to a last dance. I'm not a great dancer and a bit awkward and by the end of the night you're warmed up and it feels more natural!”
