Don’t assume these things when wedding planning

Your wedding cheerleaders have some excellent advice to impart on you. We asked real brides - both currently planning and the fabulous new ‘Mrs’ amongst us, what they wish they had not assumed when planning their Italian weddings. You need to hear this!

Don’t assume…. The Extras

“I wish I hadn’t assumed that “little things” wouldn’t need to be included in the budget. Stationery, like place cards & the seating chart, welcome party decorations, signs, etc. It adds up!” Jamie

“That my coordinator would collate all the ‘things’ from the day for us to keep i.e bar signs, logo cups, neon signage. I would recommend having that conversation that you would like these left in one place to be able to keep (if you would like to).” Charlotte

Don’t assume… Managing your Budget

“That an Italian wedding would be cheaper than the UK.” Natasha

“That I had the discipline enough to stick to my budget.”

“I wish I hadn’t assumed that less guests = smaller budget.” Rachel

“That taxis wouldn't cost a small fortune!!” Natasha

“That I looked for venues with Plan B options for inclement weather. Getting hit with a €6-7K tent rental 2 weeks before your wedding is not ideal.” Katy

“That Italian costs would be similar to US! Some are cheaper and some are more.”

When it comes to nailing your budget, there is so much to consider. Get your hands on our Budget Tracker to ensure you account for everything. Ask all the questions to each vendor at the start to avoid any last minute scary financial add-ons!

Don’t assume…. The Weather

“That there won’t be torrential rain in Italy in September.” Hannah

Don’t assume… Choosing Vendors

“The right wedding planner will make a huge difference to your planning and wedding day, but don’t assume they all do the same thing. You need to know exactly what they do to choose the right one for you.” Anon

“From someone who got married last weekend, don’t assume your wedding planner will be good!” C

“Experts in their respective fields would guide us and ask the right questions to us.” Julia

Don’t assume… Choosing a Venue

“That the venue would have more flexibility and style choices.” Sara

“It would be possible to find and book our dream venue a year in advance.” Amrita

“That the venue coordinator touted as a day of coordinator would help us with timings.” Sara

“That my venue would guarantee a ‘getting ready room’.”

Avoid planning pitfalls with an expert planner by your side.

Whether you’re at the beginning of your planning journey and you’re looking for a step-by-step process to follow or you’re knee-deep in and you’re after some reassurance on particular topics, The Club will have what you need to make your wedding go off.

Don’t assume… Managing Guests

“That the guests we really wanted to come would be able to make it! Your final guest list might not look the way you envisioned.” Sarita

“A post event the day after wasn’t crucial to catch up with guests, especially those who have travelled far. Give yourself a day together the day after with your husband and family to reflect on the day before then catch up with everyone! It’s okay to be selfish!” Ruby

“I wish we realized sooner that our guests don't all travel like us and could figure out their own transportation.” Sarita

“That my guests would read the information on our website.” Charlotte

“Getting all of our family to come would be a simple task.” Katie
