Most commonly asked questions from our Facebook couples group

Did you know that we have a couples Facebook group with over 600 about-to-be-brides and grooms all busily planning their Italian weddings.

What’s amazing about the group is that it is made up of other couples totally in the same place as you - some lost in the planning frenzy needing guidance, some quietly reading comments and tips and then our graduates - the ones who have said the ‘I dos’ and remain on in the group advising others. We love our community…come join us!

when you go to look at different venues, how long generally is your appointment?
1. Response

Honestly, we thought we’d easily do more than one in a day, but when we tried to do that in Tuscany/Umbria it was really hard. It depends on the distance between each. One lasted a couple hours and one barely an hour. Sorrento we could have easily done a bunch in one day!

2. Response

I think we managed 5 in one day in Tuscany! They were all about 30 mins apart and we only spent about 30-45mins at each but found we knew if we liked somewhere pretty quickly so spent longer at the ones we liked/left quickly if we knew it wasn’t the one. So definitely think you could do three in one day. Just remember to take loads of photos!

3. Response

We did about 3 in a day If the drive wasn’t too far, I’d expect 2-2.5hrs for a visit so if you could do 10, 1.30 and 4.30 for example all good but 2 a day would be more relaxing.

How soon before your wedding did you have your tasting? If you had a planner, did they attend with you?
1. Response

Our wedding is this September and we did the tasting in April. Our planner joined us and has been very helpful, especially with choosing the table setting etc.

2. LL's Response

A year before is best. Menus change and it’s nice to try it at the same time of year to match the seasonal food. If you have a planner take them, they’ll add a lot of expertise and value.

3. Response

We did ours in December and getting married October. Our planner didn’t come with us but set up the meeting and menu choices etc!

4. Response

Our wedding is in July and we had our tasting in December. We are from the US so getting to Italy isn’t the easiest and we happened to already be in Europe in December so we tried to get as much wedding planning done as possible while there. Our planner came with us.

I want some pictures of me getting ready but my photographer has said I’d need another photographer, which costs 1200€ extra. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

1. Response

I’ve been advised by my planner to have 2 photographers in general. This surprised me as I’ve never encountered 2 at a wedding before but she says she doesn’t remember planning a wedding without 2? So it must be more common than I think! I would understand if 2 people came from the same business but I’ve booked a single photographer already, I am going to have to book a 2nd one completely.

2. Response

Benni and Carol have an option for just one photographer including bridal preparation. Although there seems to be very little price difference for the extra photographer with them.

3. Response

Have you spoken to your original photographer and asked them to suggest a second that they know? It’s odd to book someone completely different as they’ll have to work together and coordinate.

4. Response

My photographers didn’t offer the option for just one of them, they’re a package deal - but just my perspective I think if they’re there during getting ready they might also be looking to cover some more of the venue set-up? But the main reason for me is so we can get both me coming down the aisle AND my FH reaction at the same time during the ceremony, plus a few other similar moments.

Do you guys have a rain contingency? I’m getting married 21st August and I’m in the midst of renting a gazebo but most are getting hired so I’m having to go for a pricier one. I’m in two minds whether to do it or not.

1. Response

Our date is 3rd September and we were advised against renting a tent. However we will be only around 40 people and our venue has more then enough indoor space with plenty of windows, so we can still enjoy the views. I guess it depends on what other possibilities in the case of rain you’ve got.

2. Response

Same thing happened to us...and ours is October 1. Make sure ask for multiple quotes. The stretch tents were the most affordable for us. We used Tentickle and they were half the price of Preludio.

3. Response

We have 100-120 people and Tentinkle quote was 7k… whereas Preludio was 15k…. They were different sizes but you can see the price difference.

Worried your friends and family might disown you if you mention the W word again…come join us over on our Facebook group…we eat, sleep and dream Italian weddings!
