Do I need to panic about booking suppliers for my 2022 wedding?

Since La Lista launched a whopping 2.5 months ago, we’ve been asked a lot of questions about booking 2022 suppliers. It definitely sounds like there’s some fear around losing out and we’re here once again to bust a myth!

So what’s the deal?

In an ideal world, if you’re planning for 2022 you’d have booked your venue around 18 months in advance. Given the pandemic and the uncertainty that lies ahead, we’ve seen a real mix of couples going full steam ahead and those holding back till things look more certain. The seats of those holding back have been snapped up by those couples that have had to move their weddings from 2020/2021 – thanks again to covid.

So really, we’re in the same position we’d normally be in around this time. While things are definitely busy, they’re not a huge amount busier than usual for this point in time.

What if I want to get married in ’22 and haven’t booked my venue yet?

There are so many venues and suppliers out there, it will definitely still be possible to have a wedding in Italy in ’22. Some of the most popular venues will definitely be fully booked but see it as a chance to explore and find the hidden gems.

If you’ve held off because you want to get out to Italy to choose your venue in person, you could start to look at a trip in June/July. Why not shortlist your venues now, get their availability and tentatively get an itinerary together. If you let the venues know when you might be going, they may even hold a date for you until you visit.

The main thing to consider is that the more flexible you can be, the more likely you are to have success in booking in ’22. If you’re set on a certain venue or supplier, it may not be quite so easy.

A final consideration is that you want this journey to be fun and exciting. Having the pressure of making decisions more quickly (due to availability of venues and suppliers) and the timeline of the wedding, as well as the uncertainty around travel over the coming months, it may overall be a more enjoyable experience to look ahead to 2023. Only you know whether that can work for you.

Venues and suppliers are so thankful for your enquiries and your bookings, on behalf of us all, thank you for your belief in Italy. We can’t wait to welcome you again.

If you’re currently on the lookout, check out our directory for a carefully curated selection of Italian venues and suppliers who all meet our code of ethics (this means they are 100% transparent and will go above and beyond to deliver a wedding as epic as you are!)
